Objective

Dr. Jolyon Miles-Wilson, required a proof of concept on a limited budget to demonstrate a simple app for comparing foods sustainability.

Purpose

The app was made with the purpose of empowering consumers with knowledge about the carbon footprint of products available in supermarkets while suggesting environmentally friendly alternatives.

Users would get rewards while shopping from the supermarket franchise for buying more carbon friendly foods compared to the alternatives. This would further encourage people to use the app and their eco-friendly behaviour. This opens up a huge network around the world as the app could be used to collaborate with any food franchise.

On Budget

The design had to keep costs low as there was a tight budget. A simple, free spreadsheet was used for pulling data rather than a costly database. Only Android was targeted and the UI and design was kept simple with no money spent on a bespoke artist.
