Case Study
Bosco Dental Studio, a valued client with which we have previously worked with on smaller applications, approached us with an initial design for an AI note-taking tool. Their core challenge was to streamline the process of post-appointment note creation for dentists, covering medical history, examinations, procedures, results, etc.

The project specification evolved through a collaborative R&D process. Working closely together and employing an agile methodology, we helped refine the initial concept, narrowing the scope to an effective Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This approach allowed for flexibility and ensured the project remained focused on delivering the core goal, creating a streamlined, powerful note-taking system.

Utilising AI
Our primary focus was the integration of Artificial Intelligence. We designed a system to:
- Transcribe Spoken Audio: Capture and convert dentists’ spoken examinations into accurate text. Overcoming the noise and recording difficulties of an exam room.
- Information Extraction: Process the transcriptions to identify and categorise key medical information.
- Future-Proof Modularity: Recognising the rapid advancements in AI, we designed the server architecture to be modular. This allows Breez Dental to readily integrate, evaluate, and switch between different AI services to consistently leverage the best-performing options.
- Optimised for Performance: A critical consideration was minimising the processing time. Our team focused on optimising the full pipeline to ensure notes were available swiftly after an appointment, vastly outperforming the competitive market.
- Safe and Protected: As we are dealing with sensitive patient information, we had to make sure we were compliant with all the relevant guidelines, including GDC and GDPR.
This approach not only delivered on the client’s immediate needs but also provided a platform capable of adapting to future AI innovations and maintaining a performance edge.
Software as a Service
Given the sensitive nature of medical data, data security and compliance were vital. We implemented high security throughout the development process and secured the servers to ensure all notes and recordings are safely processed and stored, adhering to relevant data protection laws.
The platform was built as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, enabling tenancy-based subscriptions for dentists nationwide.
The Tech Stack
The development timeline saw active development starting in autumn and a fully functioning service rolling out by the beginning of summer of the following year. This was achieved through efficient project management and technical expertise.
- Server-Side: The core server functionality was built using Laravel, leveraging powerful extensions like Filament (for administrative interfaces).
- Client Application: The client-facing application was developed with Avalonia. It’s hosted on Amazon AWS for reliable distribution.
- Professional Distribution: To ensure ease of deployment and a high standard of professionalism, the Windows application is delivered as a fully EV-signed and secure MSI installer.

Our commitment to understanding Breez Dental’s vision, offering proactive suggestions, and passionately working towards their success was a hallmark of this project.
